Article 35A was added to the constitution of India in year 1954 by Rajendra Prasad that is by a presidential orders.
Article 35A gives special status to the permanent residents of J&K. Article 35A doesn't allows persons from other states except Jammu and Kashmir residents from buying immovable property and don't allows them to settle permanently in Jammu and Kashmir. It also doesn't allow other residents to get benefits from Jammu and Kashmir state schemes.
It also gives rights to the permanent hand residents in legislature.It defines Jammu and Kashmir resident's identity. This article 35A also helps to identify who is the permanent residents and who are not of jandk.
